The Bravery, Battle and COVID War.

Bravery and courage is an attribute that is very necessary for the smooth functioning of the human world today. Take an example of health workers, security services, government servants exposing themselves to risk and willingly serving the society, in all these cases we find how the world survives because of a few individuals who find inherent courage to brave odds and emerge successfully. It suffices to say that bravery as a behavioral trait is highly alluring, and people tend to look in awe at those who visibly possess it, but what we should realize is bravery is something which is inherent & comes in differing forms & origins.

Bravery can be simply defined as being brave or possessing & displaying courage. In heroic parlance, it’s being able to face & deal with danger or fear without flinching or batting an eyelid. Also known as Courage, fortitude, will, and intrepidity it’s been associated with various characters both in mythology & business parlance. But it’s not just their domain; the common man in his lifetime comes across various such situations & more often than not displays varying degrees of bravery & grit. It is this common man that I am interested in. Being brave doesn’t mean being fearless it rather means a person does what he should do, despite the literal Damocles sword on your head.

Sometimes you have to lose the battle to win the war. if you believe strongly in something, fight for it, in time things will fall in place.

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

The COVID-19 war is not over. Nor we have lost the battle. Agreed we have not been able to find a cure or vaccine. So what?

We were successful in keeping the infection growth curve flat. We were successful in keeping the mortality rate low. Two months is a long time and we have displayed a high level of discipline and diligence. We have understood and learned the mantra of precaution and patience. As an individual this has been a very important learning point. As a society, we believe in ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam‘ which means the world is one family. We have to support the weaker and vulnerable sections of our society because one without another we can not survive. In these two months as a nation we had almost shut down all economic, social, and political activities. It is time to resume our journey once again as in after the independence towards the journey that I will call India 2.0.

India 2.0

Let us recollect our past, origin, greatness, and glory and through this recollection find the strength which is inherent in it which can not be lost. We must look ‘with in’. And deep with in itself we will find our own innermost being which that will not try to evade destiny but embrace it and building on what is best and most essential in itself. We have a destiny, a duty, and a pledge to fulfill. We have to follow our ideals bravely, rebuild the grandeur, and strengthen freedom. This dream is fueled by the hope that one day once again streams of spiritual progress, tranquility, peace, and harmony will flow in the world.

Let us all stop looking for heroes, but individually strive and work harder to fulfill this dream. This is an opportunity, we had been long waiting for. Let us do it.

Jai Hind.
