What is love? The word is so loaded or corrupted that I hardly like to use it. Everybody talks of love – social media, TV channels and newspapers. I love my country. I love my family. I love my wife. I love my kids. I love my friend. I love my new job. I love my car. I love my house. There is so much of love but still everyone is seeking security in relationship. Everyone of us is seeking love, feeling of love and security of love.
The love is ultimate solution to all the difficulties, travails or problems on this planet. But what do we do? Religion, society and individual has each defined ‘LOVE’ in their own way which is biased, perverted and selfish. Love is supposed to be divine, beautiful, untouched and uncorrupted.
Adoring someone, sleeping with someone, emotional exchange or companionship is how we define love at personal level. But does it remain same when we realise that other person has cheated or betrayed us. Can religion or society divide love into sacred and profane or human and divine. Is love personal or impersonal, social or anti-social, moral or immoral, limited to nation or this planet. Is love sentiment, feeling or pleasure? Is love limited to one or many?
To understand love, we have to put aside all ideas and ideologies and feelings that we have about love. But this is easier said than done. We as humans have been raised on the idea of comparisons or opposites. To break free form prejudices, inclinations and confusions; human mind needs something which is closest to the idea of love. To my mind, only one word – ‘Mother’ comes closest to universal definition of divine, untouched and uncorrupted love. For me, for each one of us LOVE is MOTHER.
Do not seek love, instead give away love, the way your mother did.
“Mother: the most beautiful word on the lips of mankind.”
Kahil Gibran
“We are born of love; love is our mother.”
Rumi
“When you look at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.”
Mitch Albom
Happy Mother’s Day to all my friends.
Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It complements similar celebrations, largely pushed by commercial interests, honoring family members, such as Father’s Day, Siblings Day, and Grandparents’ Day. This year it will be celebrated on 08 May 2022. However I will be celebrating mothers’ day on 27 Apr, on my mother’s birthday.
