It tells us nothing about&nbsp;<em>why<\/em>&nbsp;they flew it that way, what&nbsp;<em>alternatives<\/em>&nbsp;they considered, or how they&#8217;d respond if automation failed mid-approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">As automation proliferated, this blindness became dangerous. Pilots could look competent in structured, predictable tasks while remaining fragile in unstructured, ambiguous reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>As a result, training began to feel complete on paper but incomplete in spirit.<\/strong>&nbsp;Checklists were thorough; decision-making was mysterious.
